Dr. Craig Martin is a native to the
Dr. Martin is Penn HIP Certified (technique for detection of Hip Dysplasia). He has always had an interest in surgery and orthopaedics; and is trained in the Tightrope ACL repair method. He is a member of both the American Veterinary Medical Association and Alabama Veterinary Medical Association. He is also a member of Jefferson County Veterinary Medical Association, where he has served as President and Treasurer.
Dr. Martin and his wife, Bess, have four children: Elle, Kennedy, George, and Mae. They attend
Dr. Barbara Monaghan grew up between Biddeford, Maine and Miami Lakes, Florida.
As the daughter of thoroughbred race horse trainers, she discovered Auburn University where she attended veterinary school and graduated magna cum laude in 1991. After practicing in New Orleans, Louisiana and Opelika, Alabama, Dr. Monaghan purchased Kelley Animal Hospital in 1997 and later partnered with Drs. Martin and Williams to open Liberty Animal Hospital in 2002.
Dr. Monaghan is active in all areas of companion animal medicine including orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, pocket pets and she has a special interest in dentistry and oncology. She is also active in organized medicine and currently sits as the Chair of the Council of Veterinary Service for the American Veterinary Medical Association, past-President of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, past-President of the Jefferson County Veterinary Medical Association, and sits on the Alabama Veterinary Medical Foundation. She is a member of the Junior League of Birmingham, Junior Achievement and a past board member of Children’s Aid Society. She received Auburn University’s Young Achiever Award in 2001 and Alabama Veterinarian of the Year Award in 2008.
Dr. Monaghan is married with three children, two dogs, two cats and a pony. She and her husband are both pilots. She enjoys competing in marathons and triathlons and reading.
Dr. Libby Coleman Todd, a native of
Dr. Todd enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, but she has had some additional specialized training in the field of thanatology, or the study of grief and bereavement. This education allows her to help our clients through the difficult time surrounding the illness and death of a beloved family pet. Dr. Todd is also an active participant in the activities of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, devoting a portion of her time and energy to various activities that improve the quality of veterinary medicine available in our state. Beginning in June 2010, Dr. Todd will serve as President of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association. She and her husband, John, live in
Dr. Cindy Williams is a
While in veterinary school, she was an active volunteer at the Greater Athens Humane Society. She received awards in recognition of her service to the Humane Society. She is a member of both the
Dr. Jackie Holmes practices feline-only veterinary medicine at Liberty Animal Hospital. She has limited her practice to treating only cats since graduating from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University in 1994. During her senior year of veterinary school, Dr. Holmes focused specifically of courses that are relevant to feline medicine and surgery, including rotations in cardiology and nephrology completed at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has also received accolades for her research on the effects of consecutive day propofol anesthesia on feline red blood cells published in Veterinary Surgery in 1995.
Dr. Holmes is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners as well as the American Veterinary Medical Association. She was also a volunteer veterinarian for the Bob Barker Mobile Spay and Neuter Program while living in Portland, Oregon.
Growing up the youngest of eight children, Dr. Holmes is originally from Pensacola, Florida. Her father, Dr. JW Andress, practiced veterinary medicine for over fourty-five years. She and her husband, Jon, have two daughters. Her hobbies include gardening, stand-up paddle boarding and wake boarding.
